It’s the holiday season and all of the craziness is about to start. For many the holidays are a time of love, comfort and joy. To spend time with family and friends, enjoy a wonderful meal and (hopefully) relax.
But for thousands of others, the holidays are no different than any other day. They are merely struggling to find something to eat, find shelter and stay alive. And the saddest part is just about 30% of Arizona’s homeless population are children and teens. A shocking and heart wrenching statistic.
So, all of us at Owens & Perkins asked ourselves, what are we going to do to get involved? There are many volunteer opportunities available each year, particularly around the holidays. Unfortunately, the need is always greater than the resources available.
At Owens & Perkins our team is taking the time to volunteer this holiday to try to make things better for all of us.
For the third year in a row we are participating in the St. Mary’s Food Bank Super Saturday food drive on Saturday, November 21st, 2015 from 8am to noon at the Albertson’s located on the southeast corner of Scottsdale and Thomas Roads. If you would like to come out and donate a turkey or two, we would certainly appreciate it.
And, we are also supporting Hope & a Future sponsoring holiday gifts for foster kids that will be given to the children during their holiday party on December 19th.
We at Owens & Perkins are happy to be able to give to the less fortunate this holiday season and would encourage you to think about volunteering your time to do the same. Happy Thanksgiving and holidays to all.
