February 2016 – Domestic violence

It’s February, 2016, Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and the celebration of love is all around. Although falling in love can be fun, it can also turn scary. According to the Arizona Department of Health Services, “each year an estimated 1.3 million women are victimized by intimate partners” and “one in every four women will experience domestic violence in her lifetime”.

Domestic violence takes different forms – it can be physical, emotional and/or verbal – and it affects people of all colors and creeds.

Domestic violence allegations, whether true or false can be used as both a shield and sword in divorce and child custody cases. If you or a loved one is the victim of domestic violence in a pending family law or criminal case or have been charged with domestic violence here in Arizona, contact Owens & Perkins to schedule a free ½ hour consultation.
