Drug Crimes

Aggressively Representing You in Both State and Federal Courts

Owens & Perkins has experienced Arizona Criminal Defense Attorneys to aggressively represent you in both state and federal courts for a wide range of drug crimes, including, but not limited to:

  • Drug Manufacturing and Cultivation
  • Drug Possession
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  • Drug Trafficking
  • Drug Distribution and Sale

Every year the police arrest hundreds of people for drugs at Immigration Checkpoints, Border Patrol Checkpoints and on Arizona Highways such as Interstate 8, Interstate 40, Interstate 17 and Interstate 10, as well as the immigration checkpoint outside of Wellton, Arizona. If you’ve been arrested for drugs at one of these locations, or anywhere in Arizona, you’ll need an experienced, aggressive Criminal Defense Attorney to defend you.

While you have the option of having a public defender handle your case, if you are facing serious drug charges you need an experienced, aggressive criminal attorney on your side to ensure the best outcome for your case.

At Owens & Perkins, we will investigate every aspect of your case, including the circumstances of your arrest to ensure there was probable cause to detain you, whether the evidence obtained, if any, was done so legally, and whether any of your Constitutional rights were violated. We’ll also interview any and all witnesses or informants and determine if they actually provided credible evidence or tips that lead to your arrest. We’ll also carefully review the charges made against you to determine if the charges are legitimate.

As we investigate, we’ll evaluate the strength of the case against you and develop any and all potential defenses you might have. These cases often involve complex issues of search and seizure where the police unconstitutionally obtained evidence that they should be prohibited from using against you. In these situations we will aggressively fight to show the search and seizures violated your Fourth Amendment rights and attempt to have the evidence thrown out due to illegal search and seizure.

Next, we’ll discuss the outcome of the investigation with you, and together decide on the best strategy for proceeding. Sometimes, when the State has a strong case, our strategy may be to negotiate the best possible deal we can with the Prosecutor. This includes gathering and presenting our evidence to the Prosecutor and, when possible, trying to reach a deal to avoid or reduce incarceration or even avoid a felony conviction. This evidence includes not only evidence showing any weaknesses in the prosecution’s case, but also evidence of your good character.

If, on the other hand, you’re innocent or there are strong, solid defenses to the charges against you, we may decide to go to trial before a judge or jury, depending on your specific case. If we do decide to go to trial, our experienced Arizona Criminal Defense Attorneys will fight aggressively for you, including filing any Pre-Trial Motions to limit the evidence that might be admissible against you. We will work diligently and aggressively on your behalf and present your case in the light most favorable to you.
