After more than two years of virtual court hearings, and effective April 8, 2022 Judge Welty decided to lift the health and safety court protocols for the Maricopa County Superior Court. Mental Health Awareness Month

May is Mental Health Awareness Month and this year’s theme is “Back to Basics.”  The goal of this annual observance is to provide knowledge about mental health conditions and information about how to get help. Nearly one in five adults in the U.S. suffer with mental illness, yet only half of those individuals receive proper care and treatment. It’s vital we destigmatize mental health care and be aware of resources we can utilize and share.

Soles 4 Souls Shoe Drive

Throughout the month of March, we ran a Shoe Drive for the non-profit organization, Soles 4 Souls. We collected a whopping 80 pairs of shoes to donate to families in need!

THANK YOU to our team at Owens & Perkins, to our former and current clients, and to our local community for participating. We couldn’t have done this without you!

Qualified Domestic Relations Orders

In a Divorce or Legal Separation in which one or more of the parties has retirement assets or benefits, according to Arizona State Law, the community portion of those accounts will be divided equally 50/50 between the parties.

Qualified Domestic Relations Order (“QDRO”) is the tool utilized to divide such assets; it is a court order to a plan administrator of the retirement asset or benefit that defines how the parties’ retirement accounts will be divided and how they will be allocated to the non-employee party after a divorce.

Our most recent blog posts dive into QDROS and answer the most commonly-asked questions we receive from our clients.
