Changes in the Law in 2020

As 2019 is winding down we’re gearing up for entrance into a new decade, and one of the best ways to prepare for the future is to be informed of the changing laws or new laws in your state. I’ve compiled a few changes to Arizona state law that may have an effect on you this upcoming New Year.

  1. New Arizona Travel IDs

Effective in October 2020, TSA will only accept an updated Travel ID (in the form of a specialized driver license or ID card, different from your current Arizona driver’s license) as valid identification for travelers in airports. Obtaining your new Arizona Travel ID is a simple process, costs $25, and will allow you to travel seamlessly on any flight! Get started now so you’ll be prepared for your holiday 2020 travel.

  1. Increased Auto Liability Insurance Minimums

Starting in 2020, minimum limits on Automobile Liability Coverage required for all drivers in Arizona will be increased from $15,000/$30,000/$10,000 to now $25,000/$50,000/$15,000. It may cost you a little more in premiums, but it will also give you more piece of mind that all or at least a larger portion of your property damages and medical bills will be covered in the unfortunate event of an accident.

  1. Minimum Wage Increase

Last, but certainly not least, effective January 1st, 2020, minimum wage in Arizona will increase to $12.00 per hour. Understanding changes in labor laws is vital whether you are an employee or are an employer operating a small business.

With a New Year always comes change, but staying up-to-date on new laws will help you make smart and informed decisions for your future.
