Your Teens Can Now Take Their Driver’s Permit Test Online!

Clear the roads! It has now become even easier for teens to get their driver’s permit. Starting March of 2018, the Driver’s Permit Test was made available to be taken online.

Since March, about 43,000 teens have taken the test digitally. For parents, this is a huge win. The test can now be taken at a time that’s convenient for the teen as well as their parent or guardian. This also means shorter lines at the MVD office, freeing up time for those who need other services.

To get started, all you need to do is click here: https://azdot.gov/mvd/services/driver-services/teen-drivers/permit-test-home

Parents – NOT teens – will then have to create a free personalized account on the MVD’s new portal, AZ MVD Now. Teenagers’ accounts cannot be used for taking the test. The parent or legal guardian must have the account.

After you have created your account, the steps are fairly simple:

  • Verify your identity
  • Complete your teen’s information
  • Pay the $7 application fee
  • Supervise the test

The $7 fee will cover three attempts to pass the test. Teenagers from 15 to 17 years old are now able to take the test from the comfort of their own home. I don’t remember it being that easy!

This change is all about customer convenience and conforming to the digital world we live in.

There are also practice tests available on the Department of Transportation’s website so that teens are able to practice and learn before they take the test.

Arizona is now joining Florida in being the only two states that offers the opportunity to take the Driver’s Permit Test online. Arizona MVD is on the cutting edge!

As the state of Arizona moves further into the digital world, more governmental services will be available online making life more convenient for us.

As we move into the final few days of 2018, we wish you and your family a safe and joyous holiday season from all of us at Owens & Perkins.
